The E-Government Act of 2002 promoted electronic government services and information management, and—through its Title III—enacted the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA 2002). It also requires agencies to conduct Privacy Impact Assessments before developing systems that collect personal information, embedding privacy review into federal IT.
